When you think of the top echelon of fawn males in the U.S., it is impossible to not to think of Monsanto. Monsanto was the 2003 Fawn Champion at AOBA Summer Nationals (Halter) and 2003 MAPACA (Halter). Monsanto’s elite fleece beat some of the best alpacas in the world to take these top coveted awards. In addition to spectacular fleece and conformation, Monsanto has pedigree to burn. He is the son of Magical Farms gorgeous herdsire, Quetzal. He is the grandson of two of the greats – on one side Monsanto has the incomparable Accoyo Timoteo who Don Julio Barreda sited as one of the top three most influential huacaya males to ever leave the Accoyo Ranch. The Timoteo line has long been one of my favorites. Monsanto’s maternal grandsire is the gorgeous black male, Matador (sold for $70k at an older age), who has sired countless champions including MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite. Monsanto also has many champion close relatives including full borther, Magnar (Magical) and 3/4 cousin, Charles P. Atlas (Whistler's Glen).
Monsanto's crias are being born now, and they are truly amazing. To date, they range in every color including black and gray. Check out Multi-Champion Zoolander, Champion Magnolia, and newcomer Paddington Bear to see the quality Monsanto is producing.
Monsanto is co-owned with Blue Ridge Alpacas @ Victoria Ranch.
